About me
I am a professional Individual and Couples Counsellor and a qualified Counselling Supervisor.
I am a registered member of both the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and COSCA (Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland). I hold a certificate in Couples Counselling from Relationships Scotland. I am trained and qualified in the Person-Centred modality of counselling and hold a Postgraduate diploma in Person Centred Counselling from Aberdeen University (PGDip – Distinction). I also have an MSc and BA in International Relations. I am originally from the USA and have been in the Aberdeen area since 2011.
I work mainly as a person-centred counsellor but integrate other approaches when appropriate and helpful. I addition to my own practice, I have worked extensively in the third sector delivering individual and couples counselling and supervision both as a volunteer and as a staff counsellor.
I received my Certificate in Creative Supervision from the Jenny Biancardi Consultancy which is accredited by the British Psychodrama Association (a member organisation of the UKCP).
As my counselling is primarily rooted in the Person-Centred modality, my style of supervision tends to lean towards an active but very much Person-Centred approach.
I also regularly attend external supervision for my own practice as it is necessary and ethical to do so, and I am certified by Disclosure Scotland to work with adults.
